I joined WW again a month ago. I was a member several years ago. I never lost the baby weight from my 3rd baby (20 years ago now) and gained 60+ lbs when I quit smoking (2004). I also used to be far more active when I was younger. I rode horses, expended a lot of energy doing things like barn work, showed dogs (and attended lots of training classes). In 2011 I finally realized my dream of training and competing in a triathlon. That continued for a couple of years and I added in 5K running races as well. I'm a sucker for some bling and some swag.
In 2014 I suffered a knee injury while training for a half marathon and that seemingly derailed everything. I tried PT and got nowhere. The PT and the doctor never agreed on a diagnosis. I have recovered to the point that I can bike long distances (I have done 44, 55 and 62 mile organized rides this year) and have re-connected with my gym.
For my 5 weeks of WW, I have lost 15.8 lbs. I feel like I have a handle on the tracking and the points, I just need to maintain focus. Right now I am 55 years old, and 267 lbs (at 5'8"). I have decided when I hit 250 lbs, if I still can't run without hurting my knee, I will return to my doctor for a proper diagnosis (like MRI & stuff), even if it means undergoing surgery in order to progress (I am a coward, about doctors and especially about hospitals and surgery).
I have other future goals planned; at 250 lbs I can go to one of the "aerial adventure" parks around here (there is one in Maine, not too far). I would eventually like to get some actual swim instruction (I am SO SLOW in the swim!), and join a local gym that has a pool available. I'm still slow on the bike, but I'm sure that will improve with weight loss as well.
Besides getting my knee repaired so that I can run again, one of my current goals is to train for century rides in 2018. My bucket list includes long distance hiking (especially the Appalachian Trail) and possibly a cross-country cycling trip. My biggest goal: IRONMAN.
